ABOUT KLEINE VALLEI HOUSE

Kleine Vallei House is a beautiful, stylish farmhouse, built in 1978 by one of the previous farm owners.  The house preserved its character as a house where people can relax in the tranquillity of nature. Kleine Vallei House is situated 40km from Citrusdal and 26km from the N7 on a hidden farm in a quiet valley. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (main bedroom contains an en-suite bathroom), full catering facilities including a complete kitchen with scullery, sitting room with a fireplace, outside fire pit in a nature-made Boma, and a large garden ensuring that you experience quiet in the comforts of a home near nature.

This is a real hideaway, ideal for a few days of peace and quiet in a spectacular setting, without any reception. The area offers abundant opportunities for hiking through pristine fynbos, mountain biking, bird watching and viewing wildlife such as Duiker, Rock dassie, Steenbuck, etc. This area is also known for multiple nocturnal mammals, and if you spot one, you're in luck. Examples include Aardvark, Aardwolf, Bat-eared fox, Porcupine, Honey Badger, African Wildcat, Caracal and Cape Leopard.

For some, this hideaway might include the reading of an inspiring book, with the cooing of doves and the calling of the Common Fiscal in the background. For others, the exploration of the fynbos in the mountain range close to the guest house might offer the serenity that has long been yearned for.

ABOUT THE AREA

The true gem of this area is the growth of a unique herbal tea indigenous to the Cederberg region in South Africa, called Rooibos, translating to "red bush". The mountainous Cederberg area provides the perfect climate and soil conditions for the Rooibos plant (Aspalathus linearis) to thrive, thanks to its hot, dry summers and sandy, nutrient-poor soil.

What makes Rooibos special is its rich antioxidant content, caffeine-free nature, and smooth, slightly sweet taste. The plant is deeply rooted in the local culture and has been harvested for generations by the Khoisan people.

Today, Cederberg remains the only place worldwide where Rooibos grows naturally, making it a treasured symbol of South African heritage.
